Weffo SC50.1 Update - Thar Be Boost!

The Teaser - we've got consistent boost on multiple bikes, and are now finalizing the housing design, driveline mechanism, and sending out RFQ's for components.

OK, I know it's been a while since our last post, but it's been a hectic and busy summer - and not all of it has been crisis by management. Really, we're a bit more organized than that. Give us some credit!

We've actually been having a lot of fun trying to pin down the carb tuning for the SC50.1 as most of the stock components in the fuel delivery system are not spec'd out for what we're doing to a 139QMB motor.  Last instrumented test we were seeing 6 psi of boost at 6000 rpm with an approximate 16:1 air/fuel ratio (ideal is more like 14:1).  Any higher revs and the supercharger shoots the boost up past 8 psi, and the air-fuel mixture leans out quickly to about 24:1, indicating that the Mikuni CVK that was destined for a GY6/150 can't respond fast enough to the change in airflow.  It's probably going to take a massively oversized carb, EFI system, or something like APT's SmartCarb™ to keep up.  We're open to suggestions, but right now a Mikuni 30mm CVK is looking the most promising, bang for the buck.  (For those not in the know, that is a stock carb size for a 250cc single-cylinder 4-stroke scooter engine.  I'm serious.)

As a result of the tweakiness of the intake system, what we're probably going to wind up doing is providing an SC50.1 kit that contains the blower, mounting hardware, instructions, and suggested components and adjustments based on a stock 139QMB motor.  Due to the variances in setup, carbs, porting, etc that we saw at the Twist & Gone event, there is no way we could accomodate all the variations in setup on everyone's bikes.

We'd rather focus on developing the new and innovative stuff and let you guys figure out how to make it faster than the next guy's.
